Albrecht La' Brooy

Albrecht La'Brooy are Sean La'Brooy and Alex Albrecht — a Melbourne-based duo of live show and improvisation enthusiasts who co-run the Analogue Attic Recordings label. Drawing their performance philosophy from the jazz greats, they bring keyboards to the stage and only play records in their bedrooms, crafting a gentle strain of Australian electronic music that has earned them releases on Apollo Records, Scissor & Thread and Voyage.

Their music is a delicate fusion of ambient electronic textures, live instrumentation and field recordings — gauzy guitar melodies, dreamy synth arpeggios and rhythmic pulses that feel equally at home in outdoor amphitheatres as in dark nightclubs. Their 2019 album Healesville, recorded live in a mud-brick hut beside a strawberry crop in the Melbourne countryside, is their most celebrated work — an improvised document of wildlife, field recordings and somnambulant piano that captures a specific place and time.
