DJ Phillage Sounds

Phillage Sounds is the DJ alter ego of Phil Nicholas, who began working in London’s music scene in the late nineties as the Acid Jazz scene hit its final, fertile stretch.

His first industry role was working for Gilles Peterson, the DJ and broadcaster at the heart of that movement. From there he worked as a tour manager for artists such as Femi Kuti, Salif Keita, Jose Gonzalez and Matthew Herbert and, as a promoter’s rep, managed gigs for concert promoters in London’s most frequented venues, while freelancing for the London Jazz Festival and as an event producer at London’s Southbank Centre.

At Dingo Festival, Phillage Sounds digs into the acid jazz crates to showcase the vibe created in the backrooms of 90s clubs and which reintroduced dancefloor jazz to a whole new generation.
